Cultivation Technician I

Native Sun Cannabis is a vertically integrated Massachusetts cannabis company based in Waltham, MA. Our mission is to curate an experience that allows all people access to the best that cannabis has to offer; with everything we do, we always strive for the next level.

We are searching for cannabis cultivation technicians to join our team in Fitchburg MA. This is a highly accountable position involved in a key segment of our business; responsible for all tasks within cultivation while supporting the organization's core mission working as part of a team to meet the strategic objectives of the business.

The ideal candidate for this position will be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, foster a positive working environment and company culture, who likes to accomplish defined goals, and is passionate about working with cannabis.

Position Overview

A Cultivation Technician I is responsible for cannabis plant care in all stages of growth not limited to but including germination, propagation, vegetative stages, flowering and harvest. The Cult Tech monitors, keeps records, and tracks all observations in the company’s software tracking system in compliance with 105 CMR 725.105 (G)(3) & (4).

Major Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Cleaning and/or sterilizing all associated equipment used in the cultivation process, as well as the grow rooms, transplant, fertigation, shared spaces and general storage areas.
  • Transplant, harvest, water, fertilize, deploy monitoring devices, defoliate, final defoliation, repopulate rooms in a manner consistent with Native Sun’s standard operating procedures
  • Compliance, Waste Disposal, Basics of Logging and Record Keeping
  • Waste disposal and destruction of plants or products. while completing all accompanying paperwork and inputting this information into the software tracking system ensuring compliance with 105 CMR 725.105 (G)(3) & (4).
  • Observe, record and report information to the supervisory team about plant growth, VPD, equipment issues, nutrient deficiencies or toxicities, pest and pathogens, and environmental disturbances.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain tools in accordance with sanitation standards and in acceptable condition for best practices with the plants.
  • Understanding and use of environmental monitoring software and equipment.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisors or management team.

Native Sun reserves the right to change or alter any of the above duties and responsibilities according to the operational needs of the Company.

Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge & Abilities):

  • Working knowledge of the medical and recreational cannabis industries. Specifically related to Massachusetts cultivation operations.
  • Working knowledge of general plant physiology and biology, cannabis specific knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to work in hot humid conditions on concrete for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing ladders, on platforms, seated, kneeling, and performing manual labor associated with plant care.
  • Experience with inventory control methods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including listening, and communication.
  • Ability to take direction, comprehend, and complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and experience working with upper management.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships in order to gain support and achieve results both internally and externally.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Works to achieve organizational goals, with the ability to adjust to an ever evolving industry.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Experience and Education:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in horticulture, plant science, or biology is preferred.
  • Gardening, farming, or agriculture related experience bringing a crop though the fruiting phase of development.
  • Two to five years of experience in related positions, with an emphasis in cultivation operations in a production/manufacturing environment producing a commodity derived from proper plant care.
  • General computer skills, including but not limited to, google drive, email, inventory tracking software, and microsoft office.

Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope production activities, both operations and analysis.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to an environment suited for the plants optimal performance and not necessarily employees comfort. The noise level, temperature, humidity, and light intensity in the grow rooms can be very high.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.50 - $25.00 per hour
